Almost all of us have a thing. This special quirk or behavior is something we are just known for. Some people have an affinity for sports. Others may be known for a love of animals. Whatever it is, it is part of our identity.

For me, it is this unusually tight grip I have on my boat. As mentioned in a previous article, I have a thing for boating.

My old boat is a 1994 Chaparral 27 Signature. This may not seem like a useful fact, but to help describe it a little, it is like the Buick of the water. In the boating world, there are many variety of vessel for a wide range of prices.

When it was new, it would not have been the cheapest or the most expensive. Its fit and finish were decent and the material were still intact up until recently when I started a re-fit.

I bought this boat for $12,500.00 back in 2012. Since then I’ve enjoyed years of use and service. It was last in the water in the November of 2017. I remember that day well. I took it out to give the fuel…
