I think that the conflation of passion and career is often a mistake. Instead of making the thing you love into a job (which you'll eventually grow to hate), find work that is complimentary to your skills and offers you the time to pursue your passion in your free time. You could be great at mechanics but love to write. Well instead of being an engineer, be a mechanic and write in your off hours or something of the like.
