The Masks Have Helped Us

Why then do people have to hate them?

I’m finally going to go there.

It has been well over a year since the hot topic issue of masks has come into being.

In an ultra polarized society we have forgotten a simple credo — live and let live.

Or as outlined in this article:

Don’t be a Dick!

In the mid-2000’s I’d watch the news and see stories covering cities in China. I was always a little weirded out by the pictures and videos of normal, everyday citizens walking around wearing masks.

Why was this bothersome?

The reasoning behind it was simple. Their air was so polluted that they needed to wear masks to protect their health. Maybe I was bothered by the site of it. Perhaps I was more uncomfortable by the larger issue — they had dirtied their air to the point where this was necessary.

Either way, I was uncomfortable. I had even thought about how I’d feel if I saw it here in the U.S.
