Over here in the US we have a "culture" of showing off our money. It's done in fancy cars, lavish houses and even in how much food we keep in the house, to the point of needing a second refrigerator in the garage.

We also have a secondary thing. The buffet mentality. It's all about "gaming the system" or in other words, getting your money's worth. We do not take what we need. It is grab what you can.

People like to show off their wealth and think they can eat what they want and that they can simply pay a doctor for a medication that will solve their looming health crisis.
