The best thing you can do in any position of management or authority is to help your people by managing the expectation. Let people know how long you anticipate it will take. This ranges from something as simple as a story submission to the time it'll take a lift to get to your floor or even the train schedule. Just by giving people the courtesy of knowing how long something could take is a huge step.
