What Are We Doing Here?

What is it we are meant to do?

I started my adult life as an electrician. My job was to wire commercial buildings and do some repairs as well. The work could become stale. After a time, I’d wonder, what are we doing here?

Over time, the pondering grew deeper. Did my work contribute to society and the spiritual growth of those who had a benefit from my labor?

Does this happen now? When will my work and personality contribute in some small way to the universe and its energies?

What do I have that most people don’t, or the ones that do have, never share? If I’m no different, then why am I here?

Will my work make even the smallest directional shift for someone who will then do the same and so on down the line?

We’d like to think that our presence in this existence will matter in the grand scheme of things — that at some point something we’ve done (even if indirectly) made a change in the course of human events.

Did that light I fixed, help a reader from getting a headache which they in-turn were able to concentrate and in a moment of clarity decide that they were going to try a new approach and that ultimately somewhere, a problem was solved?
