We’re not all meant to bee more
“Bees don’t waste their time explaining to flies that honey is better than shit”
-Unknown
This morning I was enjoying a proper cup of Earl Grey and pondering this quote. I was at home on a Friday morning indulging in this small daily luxury from my favorite mug. All the while having thoughts of my friends who were out putting their noses and various other limbs to the proverbial grindstones.
As you may have guessed, I no longer work the way I used to. I was a commercial handyman for years and I too, like many others had to “produce” or there was no pay. Make no mistake, I still work but now it’s only on a different level.
I am now a Project Manager and I get involved in some really cool projects. I originally hoped to do this line of work with my own company but it is better all around to actually be an employee.
Hanging up the old
The hardest part of the job so far is the transition from the old type of “work day” to a new one. Instead of heading out the door at 0' dark thirty every morning (which I still do), in order to maximize the hours I can accumulate pay against, I now have to make myself available on the other end of a mobile phone or an email chain.
