Declutter, save money

Why is it so hard to declutter? That’s easy. Everything we have in this world carries a value. It’s usually a sentimental or monetary one. It is common for one value to be traded for another.

Grandmas favorite vase is reminds me of her sooo much and is special to me. Then one day the right collector comes along and tells you its a Ming Vase and worth a fortune. Sorry Grammy... but the rent needs paid. She’d understand.

Many were never taught that not-buying is the fastest way to save money.

Then there are those possessions that you must keep no matter what. These are the anchors that fill the house or a satellite storage facility. The long term use of these places never made much sense to me.

I was always of the belief that if you don’t use it within 6 months (with the notable exception of winter clothes, holiday decorations, or some tools) then you do not truly need it.

I know people who pay for year round use of storage units. They just budget it in casually and act like it’s quite normal. They even go and cycle/sort the units every 6 months to just “get rid of stuff”.
