You bring up a valid point. I too wanted to earn more money than I did with my failed websites. I am trying to create an online income stream that follows me wherever I go. This would be integral to my dream of living on a sailboat.
I appreciate you bringing up the concept/model of Medium. It is true that almost all sites out there that are not subscription based carelessly inundate the reader with constant interruptions. I had the same issue with my sites. I desperately wanted to avoid those so there would be a steady word flow and the visitor wouldn't bounce out of frustration.
As for the available content, it is becoming more difficult to avoid turn and burn articles written by the those who have the time for quantity over quality. I think that at this point, I'll continue to write my opinion pieces and engage in minor conversation with those who read them. This platform is more of a social site but also provides great insight from others who often share the ideas and ways of thinking. Plus a few bucs here and there don't hurt. :-)
